Rome: Global Education Center

Spend a summer in the historic and cultured city of Rome, Italy with AIFS Abroad! Study a variety of academic program options with credit awarded by Fairfield University. The AIFS Abroad Global Study Center is centrally located in Rome’s historic center in a beautiful building in Piazza Sant’Andrea della Valle.

Stay Longer in Rome!

This summer session in Rome can be combined with the new Rome May Term program for a longer study abroad experience:

  • Liberal Arts – May Term + Session 1
  • Liberal Arts – May Term + Sessions 1 + 2

Summer Open to Junior, Senior Minimum of 2.75 GPA Up to 10 semester credits (depending on program selection)
 

How it works:

The Study + Internship Program consists of the 3-credit online course SOCI 360 Italian Culture and Traditions plus the 3-credit INTL 310 International Internship with 120 hours internship placement for a total of 6 semester credits. Students can also take AHST 210 Italian Art: Selected Topics for an additional 1 credit.

Please note that you can combine the Liberal Arts May Term with the Study + Internship Program for a longer stay and 10 credits.

Students must be prepared to commute an average of 1 hour to/from accommodations, the AIFS Abroad Center and the internship placement location.

In a competitive world, practical experience is an invaluable addition to classroom learning. The internship provides vital insight into a career field, experience in the global workplace, practical exposure to the demands of specific jobs and development of professional and personal skills. International work experience helps students test a potential career path while exploring interests and abilities in new ways.

Where You'll Study

The AIFS Abroad Global Education Center in Rome is in the heart of the city within walking distance of historic sites such as the Trevi Fountain and Colosseum. Academic credit for the program is awarded by Fairfield University.

Located in the AIFS Abroad Center is a Resident Director and Student Advisors to help scholars adjust to life in Italy. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the building and there are a small number of computers for student use/printing.
