Program Overview

Embrace your inner jetsetter and explore healthcare issues from the perspective of the British and Dutch. Begin your study abroad experience in London researching the challenges facing the British National Health Service. Next, travel to Amsterdam and investigate culturally sensitive issues like euthanasia and elder care. Courses are taught at CIEE Global Institute – London and CIEE Amsterdam and complemented with co-curricular activities designed to increase intercultural understanding.

Excursions - London

  • Explore a historic location outside London on a day trip. Previous trips have included, Oxford, Cambridge, Bath and Canterbury
  • See the famous Tower of London, including the crown jewels..
  • Explore central sites in the City of Westminster, home of Buckingham Palace, Whitehall, St James’ Park, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, and the Palace of Westminster.
  • Browse the urban markets, on Sundays in Shoreditch and Brick Lane, for fabulous food on Fridays in Borough and for souvenirs in Camden.
  • Experience Shakespeare at the Globe Theatre on the banks of the River Thames.

Excursions - Amsterdam

  • Venture into the countryside to see a medieval castle, an authentic fishing town, or a small Dutch city with a rich history.
  • See more of the Netherlands with an overnight trip to Rotterdam, Maastricht, or Dordrecht.
  • Soak up Dutch culture with special dinners, bike tours, movie night at a city beach, concerts, flea market visits, or special museum exhibitions.
