Biomedical Summer Research in London

For six weeks over the summer, earn credit and conduct your own research project at one of the world’s leading institutions with this unique program at The School of Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Sciences (BMEIS) at King’s College London. The program is designed to develop your academic knowledge and skills as a foundation for postgraduate study while giving you the independence to conduct your research under the mentorship and supervision of world-class researchers.

Exciting project choices range from: Estimating cardiac output from the arterial blood pressure signal; to Detecting atrial fibrillation from wearable sensor signals; and Using smart wearables to identify patients at risk of falls.

BMEIS’s research focuses on applying fundamental engineering techniques to address clinical problems. The School is based at St. Thomas’ Hospital in central London and works collaboratively with clinicians to ensure that its work is directed towards unmet patient needs. Your project will fit within these goals.

  • In addition to your chosen project work in the lab and studying, you’ll attend seminars on academic writing, meet with your advisor weekly, and have the option of attending additional seminars on discipline-specific skills. You’ll also have a mentor to help settle any questions you may have. You’ll present and discuss your scientific paper at the end of the program.

  • You’ll also take part in many cultural excursions and activities planned by Arcadia London Center staff. These experiences will open up this cosmopolitan city to you and help you gain an understanding of this dynamic, multicultural society.
