Academic Studies Abroad (ASA) in Barcelona – Barcelona School of Design and Engineering (ELISAVA)
(Outgoing Program)
** Indicates rolling admission application process. Applicants will be immediately notified of acceptance into this program and be able to complete post-decision materials prior to the term's application deadline.
You will receive individualized support from ASA’s advisors and staff throughout your program application process, while you are abroad, and when you return.
Before you depart we will work with you and the staff at your home institution to help you prepare for your time abroad. We are happy to speak with you to discuss ways you can maximize your experience in your host country. You will also receive a detailed pre-departure orientation guide which will help you know what to pack, what to expect when you arrive, and how to stay safe while abroad.
Once you arrive in Barcelona you will participate in our onsite orientation with the other ASA students in your group. ASA’s site director will introduce you to your host city and culture through orientation and multiple events during the program. Our intentionally small group sizes allow ASA’s students to get to know one another and are an aspect of our programs for which our alumni consistently express their appreciation. You will have opportunities to meet other students and lots of new people through your classes, social events and optional language partners.
ASA programs include excursions, volunteer opportunities, housing, meals, academic credits, transcripts, airport pick-up on arrival, medical insurance and more! Contact ASA or your advisor to learn about ASA’s Price Guarantee for all of our programs.
"ASA was very involved in the entire study abroad process. They give you more than the typical study abroad package. ASA is always available to answer questions and help you through the entire study abroad process."

COURSES
ELISAVA Barcelona School of Design and Engineering was founded in 1961. Its headquarters on La Rambla could not be more centrally located – you will have the advantage of living and studying in the very heart of Barcelona, close to all the major attractions and museums, shopping, and more. ELISAVA offers undergraduate degrees in Design and Engineering in Industrial Design, as well as postgraduate degrees in Photography, Interior Design, Graphic Design, and more.
The mission of ELISAVA is to promote knowledge, research, development, and innovation in the fields of Design, Industrial Design, and Communications. ELISAVA strives to prepare students to meet professional challenges at an international level, to be active both in their community and in the business sector. In this way, students are assured viability in a constantly changing global environment.
The courses at ELISAVA are taught in English, but students will be enrolled in the courses with international students. Students will have the choice of living in a shared student apartment or participate in a homestay with a host family. Homestay accommodation includes 3 meals a day and one load of laundry per week. The shared apartment option does not include meals, but each apartment has a kitchen. All ASA housing includes Internet access and is located in safe neighborhoods, within a reasonable distance from the university. A full list of classes for this program can be found on the ASA website through the link at the top of this page.
"My time spent abroad was absolutely amazing, and I give
a lot of credit to ASA for making it the best it could be."
