YOUR ASA EXPERIENCE

You will receive individualized support from ASA’s advisors and staff throughout your program application process, while you are abroad, and when you return.

Before you depart we will work with you and the staff at your home institution to help you prepare for your time abroad. We are happy to speak with you to discuss ways you can maximize your experience in your host country. You will also receive a detailed pre-departure orientation guide which will help you know what to pack, what to expect when you arrive, and how to stay safe while abroad.

Once you arrive in Barcelona you will participate in our onsite orientation with the other ASA students in your group. ASA’s site director will introduce you to your host city and culture through orientation and multiple events during the program. Our intentionally small group sizes allow ASA’s students to get to know one another and are an aspect of our programs for which our alumni consistently express their appreciation. You will have opportunities to meet other students and lots of new people through your classes, social events and optional language partners.

COURSES

ASA students will take classes at the UVic-UCC campus in central Barcelona within the Business, Design and Innovation program.

UVic-UCC classes are held in Barcelona’s innovation and design district at the BAU School of Design campus, located just 15 minutes from Plaza Catalunya by bus or subway. The campus occupies two renovated industrial buildings that are filled with natural light and equipped with the latest technological teaching aids. 


Taking Spanish Language is recommended because it will assist you greatly during your stay to learn the local language. However, it is not mandatory to take Spanish language.
