Music Therapy in China
China has a long, rich, and unique music heritage that is well integrated into ancient healing practices. Music therapists benefit greatly from exploring the evolution of music from one generation to the next, the way in which music is integrated into everyday life, and its role in health, healing, and well-being in China. The program allows participants to reflect on their own musical roots, and to discover how their own musical preferences have developed based on cultural experiences.

This is a two-week summer program in July, led by an Augsburg University faculty member. Students from any institution are welcome to apply; graduate and undergraduate levels available.

Highlights

• Spend time at the music therapy program at a burn camp in Chongqing for children with limited access to healthcare.
• Get an overview of music and healing practices in China.

• Included excursions to areas of interest including the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, and a Yangtze River Cruise.
