Cape Town Short Term Internship
Contribute to community development initiatives and workshops on this short term internship in South Africa.

Program Focuses
Short term interns get the opportunity to try all of Cape Town's projects including childcare, sports, teaching and womens empowerment. During this time the intern will deliver skills in community development, teaching and cross cultural communication. Interns complete an ILM endorsed leadership course and are supported to develop leadership skills, both at the base and on project. Interns receive first aid training included.

Program Highlights
Get a taste of all the different projects so you will be able to find where your passion is. Whether it is with younger or older children, or perhaps you are interested in working with women assisting them gain skills or maybe you want to understand global health issues or teach sport? Cape Town offers a buffet of opportunities and you get the chance to try them all! Long-term interns (6 months) will have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and involvement on one project and actively work as a leader of new volunteers. 
  • You will work out in the Xhosa townships and learn skills such as cross-cultural communication, teaching techniques and working with communities using a grassroots approach.
  • You will have a mentor that will provide you with ongoing support and one-on-one reflection of your professional and personal growth to ensure that you reach your objectives and further provide you with a reference.
  • A great opportunity to gain experience of a variety of community projects and develop an array of skills for your CV.

Location

When you volunteer in South Africa, you can learn to speak some of its 11 official languages, visit its eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites, see the lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino that makes up South Africa’s Big Five, and try to spot the different plant species in the Cape Floral Kingdom, 70% of which are found nowhere else in the world.
