Program Description:
International Development Internship in Cambodia (short-term)
Experience working in the field of international development first hand by living and teaching English abroad. As part of this programme, you will get involved in teaching English, running various hard and soft skill workshops, or conducting research on international development within the country, giving you first-hand experience of working in the field. Our internship is rooted in contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including Goal #4 - Quality Education, Goal 17 Partnerships for the Goals, and Goal #10 – Reduced Inequalities.

Cambodia teaching community
Program Focus
Along with assisting in classroom management and with lessons plans, you will also be contributing to UN SDG #17, Partnerships for the Goals, by working closely with our local partners to conduct English language lessons and gender equality work in the local community. You will work alongside other like-minded participants and learn about the day to day running of the project, and receive teacher and community training from staff. We have designed our programs based on the needs of the community in Siem Reap and have developed partnerships with local organisations in order to support this work.

Spend your days gaining valuable experience and making a lasting impact in Siem Reap, then your evenings and weekends being immersed in the culture of the city. Through working on this program you will be able to get to know individuals from the community and might even have the opportunity to learn Khmer, the local language.

Cambodia temple
Location
Experience the Kingdom of Cambodia with its captivating cultural history and iconic temples and monuments. Siem Reap is a hive of activity, where medieval architecture abuts lively markets, diverse restaurants and riverside hangouts. Further out from the city you can enjoy the stunning natural landscapes, filled with lush greenery, glistening rice paddies and waving sugar palms. Local non-governmental organisations in Cambodia have made massive strides during the past two decades in uplifting their communities. In 2017, we were contacted by a number of these organisations who focus on sustainable development to ask if we would be able to provide the kind of support they need to make their objectives a reality. By joining GVI as an intern Cambodia you will take an active role in improving the educational and community initiatives in Siem Reap.
