[COURSE OVERVIEW]

Course Description (INTL 130)

This 2 credit Study Abroad course focuses on British Theater, Costume and Culture in England. Students will immerse themselves in British theater and culture by attending theater performances, visiting exhibits, museums and historical both historical and contemporary, in London and Stratford. This course will link these visits to specific scripts and performances that students will read and subsequently view while in England. Students will learn the process and approach to theatrical performance through its history as well as set, costume and lighting designs and apply this knowledge to written analysis of theatrical performance that they will experience in London and serve as a foundation for class discussion. These scripts and performances will be in a variety of eras that reflect (or satirize) the culture, mores, and social structure of society in each. Learning will be enhanced by curator-led tours at museums and workshops at theaters like Stratford, the National Theater and the Globe. Students will keep a daily journal that they will supplement with students’ photographic documentation and online research. Students will also demonstrate this understanding in a final project accompanied by a final paper.

[ACCOMODATIONS & MEALS]

Students will reside in a centrally-located hotel. All breakfasts are included, as well as some additional meals.

[PROGRAM COST]

Program fee: $4300

Program fee includes: round-trip international airfare; comprehensive pre-departure and on-site orientation; health & security insurance; on-site accommodations in twin rooms*; all breakfasts; local transportation; all excursions and entrance fees; and in-country program transportation.
Program fee does not include: some meals; personal expenses
*Single supplement fee = $975/per person

Late Fees : A late fee of $35 will be assessed for each payment not received by the payment deadlines communicated to you by the International Programs Office.
