Program Description:

SIT Study Abroad Jordan: Virtual Arabic Language (All Levels)

Develop and expand your language competency in speaking, reading, and writing Modern Standard Arabic online. Appropriate for all skill levels.

OVERVIEW

Arabic is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, with more than 400 million native speakers and dozens of dialects. Learn Modern Standard Arabic in this three-credit online course, which will involve approximately 15 hours of work a week for the nine weeks of the course’s duration.? You will have three hours a week of synchronous instruction with the language instructor and can expect to spend about 10 hours a week on asynchronous tasks and about two hours a week on small group projects and assignments.?You will rapidly learn to speak and understand Arabic while virtually experiencing Arab and Jordanian culture.

PROGRAM COMPONENTS

  • Build Arabic language skills (in both Modern Standard and Colloquial Arabic) in speaking, listening, reading, and writing
  • Communication with native speakers in a variety of real-world situations
  • Conversational proficiency and culturally appropriate gestures
  • Develop Arabic vocabulary specific to events in the Middle East
