Overview

Webster's Vienna campus, Webster Vienna Private University, opened in 1981 and is accredited both in the USA and in Austria. Webster ViennaPW
Vienna Private University is located in the beautiful Palais Wenkheim, conveniently located in Vienna's second district (Praterstrasse 23),
just a few 
steps away from the city center. Built in 1826, the neoclassical building features tremendous architectural detailing, both interior,
and exterior. The building was completely renovated and transformed into a modern site for academic excellence in 2014.

At Webster Vienna, the goal is to bring students together into one Webster community. We bridge cultural gaps by providing a variety of services and activities for students, such as New Student Orientation, welcome evenings, holiday celebrations, social and cultural activities, community service, and sporting events.

Joining the Webster Vienna community means you will be joining a global community with classmates from over 70 countries. Students have many opportunities to make the most of their time in Vienna by getting involved in campus life through various organizations. Generations of artists, students, and connoisseurs of life have sought out Vienna for its inspirational art and architecture, parks and palaces, music and opera, and of course, the famous Viennese coffee houses. Vienna is the home of many multinational headquarters for the CEE region and international organizations such as the United Nations, OSCE, and OPEC. Vienna is located in the heart of Europe with easy access to many major European cities and historical sites.

Student Housing
Study abroad students at Webster Vienna are housed off-campus at the Student Hotel. TSH is located in Leopoldstadt, Vienna’s beautiful and lively second district. The residence halls are comfortably situated within walking distance of parks, a lively residential area, several restaurants, museums,

and the world-famous Prater amusement park. TSH provides students with superior comfort, practical convenience, and an engaging social atmosphere.

Vienna's city center can easily be reached by public transportation. Students can take the subway (U-Bahn) line U1 directly from Praterstern to Nestroyplatz to quickly get to the Webster Vienna campus or continue on the U1 line for two more stops to arrive at the historical St. Stephan’s
Cathedral and the city center. Students can also walk about 15 minutes to campus or use one of TSH’s bicycles from their bicycle-share system to

Student Life
Webster Vienna boasts students from 70 countries. Our diverse community bridges cultural gaps by providing a variety of activities for students,
such as Orientation, cultural excursions, and sponsored events that will help students make lasting memories. While studying at Webster Vienna, students can join the Student Government Association (SGA) or any of the student clubs and organizations, such as the Soccer Club, Volleyball Club, Model UN, and more.

Webster Vienna students are very active in the greater Vienna community; from visiting the Ball of Sciences every January to volunteering at the UN Women's Guild Bazaar, study abroad students can join one or all of our organized excursions to key Viennese and Austrian cultural activities.

Culture shock is a real experience many students face during their time abroad. The Webster Vienna Counseling Services provide free counseling to all students free of charge. Students also have access to a variety of services on our campus, including the Language Center, the Quant Center, and the Student Resource Center.

Vienna: Hub of Central Europe
Study abroad students travel a great deal during their time in Vienna. As one of the continent's central hubs of transport, Vienna is your gateway to the rest of the continent. Webster Vienna promotes personal growth through travel and encourages students to continue to feed their curiosity for other countries while temporarily in Europe.

In their first week in Vienna, study abroad students apply for their visa D in beautiful Bratislava, Slovakia. Webster Vienna LEADS students and the Student Resource Center accompany them on this excursion and guide them through the historic city.

Academics

All courses are taught in English by highly qualified faculty. Students do not need to know German to apply. The majority of people in Vienna speak some English, however, learning a few basic phrases in German is always a good idea. The German language course is very popular for study abroad students and helps them learn to communicate in German. The Vienna campus offers a variety of courses in various disciplines, all of which are available to study abroad students. 

Undergraduate students of all majors are welcome to study abroad at Webster Vienna even if their major is not offered in full. Webster Vienna offers a wide variety of General Education courses and electives in addition to core courses for majors such as Finance, Economics, Business and Management, International Relations, Media Studies, and Psychology. Graduate students pursuing degrees in Finance (MS), International Relations (MA), Marketing (MSc), MBA, or Psychology (MA) can take core classes at the Webster Vienna campus.

Academic Requirements & Registration Guidelines
  • Please note that all course offerings are subject to change. Changes in faculty availability and student enrollment can occasionally result in course cancellations.
  • Students must register for a minimum of 6 credit hours per term or 12 credit hours for the semester locally at Webster Vienna. Online courses and independent study courses do not count towards the minimum.
  • All courses are 3 credit hours unless otherwise indicated.
  • Attendance is expected and required; absences will negatively affect grades.

Program Costs

Webster academic tuition scholarships, federal loans, and grants do apply to single-term, semester, and academic year students studying abroad at a Webster campus (not summer). Work-study funding does not apply as students are not able to work while abroad. Also, be sure to check out the available study abroad scholarships. If you have any questions regarding your aid for a study abroad program, please contact your financial aid advisor for additional information.

For non-Webster students, contact your university's financial aid office to confirm how federal and institutional aid may apply. Be sure to ask about available study abroad scholarship opportunities at your home campus. Affiliate students may be eligible for the WINS Travel Award airfare scholarship.
